While in the 10th grade, my father got me a job with the landscape lighting and irrigation company whose vehicles he serviced as a mechanic.

It was here that the process of becoming an electrician began. It didn’t take long before it was recognized that I was mechanically inclined and had the blue-collar drive and work ethic in my blood. Impressed by my abilities and my work ethic they offered me an apprenticeship. I remained with this company all the way through my apprenticeship until I received by Journeyman license. A year after working as a Journeyman, I ventured on to other companies to gain more experience in the industry. 

Over the next decade, I worked for several electrical companies gathering experience in all sectors of the industry. From custom residential all the way through to commercial and industrial. 

One year, while working for a very large company servicing all of Ontario, I suffered an injury at home that removed my ability to work with the tools. Stuck at home, thinking about the future and what could happen if I ever lost the physical ability to work on the tools, I decided to pursue estimating. 

I got an entry-level job as an estimator for an electrical company that serviced a very niche part of the industry (mechanical wiring & controls). Quickly becoming the company’s lead estimator, I managed to grow the company within my first year and sharpen my knowledge of business and construction management.

We never serviced the residential industry and worked directly with other contractors and never directly to the customer. It was here I noticed an opportunity to create something that was customer-driven and provided reliable and affordable services for the average individual looking for electricians — not a corporation. 

This is where MKP was born. Created out of a desire to provide reliable and affordable services to the average homeowner who was looking for a fair individual to work with, not a big expensive company that didn’t care who they were. 

With direct-to-customer services as the foundation of MKP, we have continued to grow and extend our services in the commercial and industrial sectors with our experience and knowledge.
